lyrics
In unwilling farewell, cried a young Astrophel, forced a life in a prison of choices the weight of her guilt as the cell. Found truth in a world of conceit. Gave trust though her doubts would repeat. In unwilling farewell, cried a young Astrophel, then in one swift deliberate motion she broke from her own living hell. Found truth in a world of conceit. Gave trust though her doubts would repeat. She laughed at the charges of fate. Then slipped through the grip of the hate.
The curio case is smashed, lying open. The porcelain doll with her face cracked and broken. The fancy perfumes are spilled out on the floor. By the girl in a rage who won’t take anymore. Found truth in a world of conceit. Gave trust though her doubts would repeat. She laughed at the charges of fate. Then slipped through the grip of the hate. First you bled. Then you led. Now farewell.
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max. Amazing band, amazing album. Odiumediae
